Leave coastguards to decide how the job should be done

The reply came back that the Conservative Party is extremely worried about these charges and is investigating the proposals in great detail, so let's hope the proposed new radio licence fees will not happen.
Then, on October 21, I read the article "Coastguard flares ban is putting lives at risk".
I am fed up with these faceless people hiding under quangos such as the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), and ordering hands-on people like the coastguards who know better than they do what is needed when it comes to saving lives at sea.
To insist they not only stop using the flares, but that any that are still left should be destroyed before December 31, is not only irresponsible but a waste of money.
Then for the MCA to say it will review the situation in a year's time is beyond comprehension.
I only hope there won't be any fatalities on their consciences during the coming year if the flares are withdrawn, otherwise they could be had up for manslaughter.
Leave the coastguards and volunteer rescuers to get on with the very good work they do, and if they say they want the flares, respect their judgment and stop interfering. They know best.
I hope the Western Daily Press will keep us informed about this story.
