Mark Yates says he has no issues with striker Chris Zebroski ahead of Cheltenham Town's trip to Newport County tomorrow (3pm).
Zebroski joined the Welsh club at the start of this season, six months after having his contract at Cheltenham cancelled by mutual consent midway through last term.
He failed to show for four matches, with the final straw being the New Year's Day defeat at Oxford United, contacting Yates at 10am on the morning of the match to say he was not fit to play following an incident the night before.
Zebroski signed for Skrill South club Eastleigh before returning to the professional ranks ahead of Newport's first season back in the Football League.
He has since admitted to struggling with a battle against the booze, but he has made a full recovery and Yates said he appreciated a recent visit from the 27-year-old.
"I had no problem with what Zeb did for us on the pitch last season and he was a lively presence up front and wide on the left," Yates said. "He came and saw us recently, wanting to right a few things from his time here and I have absolutely no problem with him."
Zebroski scored six goals in 22 starts and two substitute appearances for Cheltenham.
He netted his eighth goal for Newport in Tuesday's 3-2 home win over Oxford United, a match witnessed by Yates.
"He was excellent and a real thorn in Oxford's side," Yates said. "He showed a real willingness to run and run and that was after an injury lay-off.
"He looked fit and strong and hopefully he doesn't play as well as he did on Tuesday against us."
Cheltenham are without David Noble, Ashley Vincent and Troy Brown for their first visit to Rodney Parade.
Cheltenham's home match against Wycombe has been rearranged for Tuesday, March 18 (7.45pm).
Bury have signed Huddersfield Town full-back Jake Carroll on a month's loan.
The 22-year-old joined the Terriers from League of Ireland side St Patrick's Athletic last April and has made seven appearances for the Championship side.
His last appearance for Mark Robins's team came in the Capital One Cup defeat against Hull in September.
He could make his debut for the Shakers in Saturday's match at AFC Wimbledon.
