Wincanton Racecourse will unveil improved facilities to the public as the new season gets under way this afternoon.
Racegoers are set to return to the racecourse after its annual five-month break.
Steve Parlett, general manager of Wincanton Racecourse, said he was looking forward to another successful season.
He said: "During the summer, we've improved and extended the owners' and trainers' bar which has been decorated by our artist in residence.
"We've made permanent our members' lounge and improved the irrigation system on the racecourse."
"We're also looking very closely at our food and drink offering and will be making ongoing improvments, including focusing on more local products."
The course stages 17 meetings each season until May, with today's curtain-raiser called Under Starters Orders.
The seven-race card starts at 2.20pm
Before the first race, there will be a parade in the paddock of equine stars including Kauto Star, Big Buck's and Hunt Ball.
Mr Parlett said: "We are very excited about the new season, and hope that during the course of the next few months we'll see some top class horses in action. We are all looking forward to welcoming everyone back."
