First call out for new RNLI lifeboat station

Weston-super-Mare RNLI, having left its home on Birnbeck Island, has established a temporary base at Knightstone Harbour. Yesterday was the first call to the temporary station on the Piazza at Knightstone Island, which has only been in place for a few weeks. At 11.57am yesterday a member of the public saw what they thought was a man struggling in the water 500 yards south of Weston's Grand Pier. The lifeboat was called out, but it was a false alarm.
