FOOTBALL REPORT: Frome Town 1 Chesham United 4

A three-goal blitz in five first-half minutes condemned Frome Town to another home defeat, this time at the hands of high-flying Chesham United.

Despite a spirited second-half fightback from the Robins, the visitors showed their class throughout and fully deserved their 4-1 success.

After a slow start, the match erupted into life in the 15th minute as Chesham carved through the Frome defence before James Potton shot low into the far corner.

Three minutes later, the same player made it 2-0 as he produced a stunning dipping volley from outside the area that gave keeper Darren Chitty no chance.

Steve Wales scored Chesham's third a minute later, applying a calm finish to a flowing move, and only star man Chitty prevented it from becoming a rout as he saved a Wales penalty after Matt Cowler had fouled inside the area.

Ben Wood pulled one back in the 43rd minute as he outpaced three defenders to score a fine individual goal.

That gave Frome a lift and they were much better at the start of the second half but Chesham rode out the storm.

And they had the final word as Drew Roberts broke clear and bagged their fourth in the 79th minute.
