Somerset Rebels pair Alex Davies and Nick Morris both claimed top-five finishes in the Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship at Kurri Kurri this weekend.

New Edinburgh signing Max Fricke won the title, but Davies was fourth and Morris fifth.

Davies battled back from a first ride last place to score nine points from his remaining four rides to claim a place in the B Final, while Morris will no doubt rue a last ride fall and subsequent exclusion which denied him an automatic place in the A Final after he had scored 11 points from his first four rides.

It was enough, however, for him to join Rebels team-mate Davies in the B Final together with Cameron Heeps and Tyson Nelson, but in a superb four laps of wheel-to-wheel racing it was Davies who took the chequered flag as he held off the combined challenges from Morris and Heeps.

Davies joined defending champion Taylor Poole, Justin Sedgmen andmFricke in the A Final, but was unable to repeat his B Final heroics and it was Fricke who came through to pass Poole with little over a lap to go to claim the crown.
