- One of Britain's best known and loved personalities, Lenny Henry, is back on the road with a UK stand-up tour.
Lenny Henry has risen from being a cult star on children's television to being one of Britain's favourite comedians who has had a crucial influence on the creation of black-centered comedy and characters.
After numerous television appearances in recent years including his own hit shows, Lenny is going back to his stand-up roots and is heading to theatres across the country.
Lenny Henry's Pop Life will take the audience on a hilarious joyride through Lenny's life using his first main passion of music entwined with his renowned witty charisma.
Music has always played a huge part in Lenny's life and this joyous, funny, freaky show sees Lenny play the piano for the first time in front of an audience.
From his childhood years thinking Elvis was a relative to hanging at the Queen Mary Disco in the Midlands and beyond, you'll learn how music goes better with everything.
But the show is not just about music and Lenny will also enlighten fans on his thoughts on the Olympic and Paralympic fever that has swept across Britain and he will open up about his friends and family in a show containing plenty of laughs and lots of funky tunes along the way.
Lenny wrote Pop Life with his long-term collaborator Kim Fuller, who worked with him on Three Of A Kind, The Lenny Henry Show and Saturday Night Live.
"Nothing is off limits. Like a fine wine, Lenny has improved with age and shows no sign of slowing down," BM Magazine, Canberra.
Lenny's last UK tour, Cradle to Rave, was in 2011 and was an autobiographical musical journey taking Lenny through his favourite artists, records and sounds.
The tour received rave reviews and following the success of this, Lenny took the show to Australia and New Zealand in June this year, so if you missed him make sure you catch him this time around.
Lenny Henry: Pop Life will be at the Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare, on Sunday 18 November at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced at £24.50 are available on 01934 645 544 or online at http://tinyurl.com/ckzqxvr For further details see http://tinyurl.com/6bkc46j
