THERE was a stunned silence across the Mid Somerset News and Media office today as Mini-Merv, the psychic hamster, successfully managed to predict absolutely none of the teams in England's group for the World Cup.
Mini-Merv had used her awesome psychic powers to predict that England would be up against Portugal, Switzerland and Iran in the first round.

But instead, they were drawn against four-time winners Italy, as well as Uruguay and Costa Rica, in Group D at the 2014 World Cup.
Gazette and Journal editor, Bede Macgown, said: "Mini-Merv is the seventh-daughter of a seventh-daughter, so we had complete faith in her abilities.
"We believe the ley-lines from nearby Glastonbury and the electromagnetic field from the camera phones used to film the prediction may have disrupted her abilities.
"We have not given up on Mini-Merv and hope to work with her again in the future."
