Police are appealing for witnesses after two children were shot at as they played in a Yeovil garden.

The two children were playing in a garden in Mudford Road at around 6.40pm on Thursday evening when the shot was fired.

"The family heard a whistling sound and a air pellet was seen to hit a concrete post nearby," said police in a statement.

"It is believed the shot came from the area of the flats on Roping Road."
