Yeovil driver injured in collision with police car in Dorset

A driver who failed to stop when requested was seriously injured when a police car collided with him on a country road.

The 28 year old from Yeovil was driving a black Peugeot GTI which had just collided with a road sign when the incident happened on the B3146, just off the A352 Sherborne-Dorchester road at 6.06pm yesterday.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses.

The car had failed to stop as requested and was being followed by a Dorset Police vehicle. It left the B3146 Glanvilles Wootton road at Osehill Green and collided with the sign. The male occupant left the car and was in collision with the following police vehicle.

The man sustained a serious arm injury and was taken to Dorset County Hospital. He was arrested for driving-related offences.

Police Sergeant Dave Stroud, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward and contact police.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of either vehicle leading up to the collision.” Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 23:402.
