A Westcountry doctor has denied sexually assaulting four women.

Dr Habeeb Mohammad Abdul Latheef appeared at Taunton Crown Court charged with six counts of sexual assault.

The smartly dressed 45-year-old, who works as a GP in Yeovil, Somerset, spoke only to confirm his name and enter pleas of not guilty to the charges.

He is alleged to have touched the four women, who were all aged 16 or over, in a sexual manner when they did not consent and he did not reasonably believe they had consented.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between February 22, 2008 and December 22, 2011.

The case was adjourned for trial on a date to be fixed.

Judge Graham Hume Jones said: “This matter has been adjourned. There is likely to be a pre-trial review before the court fixture date.

“In the meantime I grant you bail. You must attend this court when next required.”

The General Medical Council confirmed the defendant is suspended from the medical register and cannot practise as a doctor in the UK.
