Yeovil Town’s players must show their quality when the going gets tough as well as when they are on top according to their manager.

The Glovers welcome npower League One basement boys Hartlepool United to Huish Park on Saturday having lost their last two outings.

Stevenage made the most of their hosts' second half capitulation to inflict defeat on Gary Johnson’s men on Tuesday.

The boss said he was learning plenty about his squad, comparing the weekend clash to last month’s visit of then-bottom team Bury.

Johnson said: “It’s the Bury game. Hartlepool have moved on their manager and they might be giving Mickey Barron a chance. But it’s like the Bury game for me and because they are bottom of the table they are looking for their next scalp as soon as possible having moved on the manager.

“If it’s not Tranmere, they’ll be looking at us. They have got some decent players there, and all clubs at our level have match-winners in their team if you let them play.

“We have got to be up for it in both halves. I am learning about our players all the time and I am learning who is there in adversity and who is not.

“That is important to learn because there is no use being a great player when you are 2-0 up, you have got to be a great player when you are 2-0 down as well.”

Johnson admitted he anticipated Stevenage’s second half display and slammed his side for not matching the quality of the opening 45 minutes.

“At half time we felt that if we went out and produced the same we couldn’t be beaten,” he said. “But unfortunately and obviously the opposition manager is going to have a different feeling to that and he is not going to allow his boys out and hear all the ole’s that were happening in the first half.

“They changed their tact and personnel to get at us, which we knew would happen. We had to handle that but on the day we didn’t handle it in the second half because we were nowhere near the standard we reached in the first half.”

Yeovil Town from: Stech, Stewart, Ayling, McAllister, Hinds, Webster, Marsh-Brown, Burn, Haynes-Brown, Edwards, Brundle, Williams, Foley, Young, Smith, Johnson, Hayter, Reid, Madden, Agbo.
