Emergency services rescued an injured woman from a water-filled ditch in Minehead early this morning.

The woman was found in the ditch on the Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club course at around 6am, and was unable to get out, a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

Two fire crews from the town called for back-up from a specialist water rescue team from Barnstaple to rescue the casualty, who was then treated by ambulance staff.
