Woman hurt in shop robbery

A woman shop worker was attacked at an antiques store by a thief who escaped with tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened at Banwell Antiques, a long-established, family run business in High Street, Honiton, at 9am on Saturday.

The woman was left shaken but unhurt by the attack which happened as she opened the shop.

Among the items stolen include various gold bangles, bracelets, necklaces and rings; 30 semi precious and diamond set pendants white and gold; 200-300 rings set with diamonds and semi precious stones; oval shaped black opal surrounded by diamonds; and natural tallow sapphire 7 carat, set in 18 carat white gold surrounded by 1 carat of diamond.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
