A man was taken to hospital with broken ribs following an attempted robbery in Taunton.
The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Friday November 29, 2013.
The victim was walking along Dorchester Road and was near to the junction with Warwick Road when he was approached from behind by two men.
They punched him on the back of the head, knocking him to his knees and then kicking him in the chest.
During the assault a car pulled up and a man got out and shouted at the offenders causing them to flee the scene.
The victim went to hospital a few days later as his ribs were painful and was told two had been broken.
The incident was reported to police and enquiries are underway to identify the people responsible.
There is no description of the offenders except that they were wearing hoods and scarves to hide their identity.
