Weston-super-Mare started the National League Three South West season with a big 58-10 victory over Amersham & Chiltern and secured a try-scoring bonus point by the interval.
Weston built-up a 29-nil lead by the interval with fly-half James Mackay opening the scoring with a penalty followed tries from left wing Matt Watkins and full-back Ross Bennett with Mackay converting the second.
Just before the midway point of the half the visitors were reduced to 14 men when openside flanker Thomas Grammenos was yellow carded. But the Seasiders only managed to score once as Mackay converted by own try.
Just before the break inside centre Mackay, on his league debut for the Seasiders since moving from Dings Crusaders, crossed for the bonus point try.
Weston stretched their lead early in the second half with a second from Bennett, converted by Mackay before the visitors got their first points on the board through replacement Sam Pollard.
The home side then lost skipper Gavin Simpson due to an injury before Watkins crossed for his second try, converted by Mackay. As the game went in to the final ten minutes the visitors were again reduced to 14 men. No.8 Tom Blackburn who was sent to the sin-bin.
Replacements Craig Withers and flanker Kevin Hobbs got tries before centre David Hughes scored for the visitors. But Bennett completed his hat-trick for Weston.
