Weston-super-Mare were bundled out of the FA Trophy 3-0 by a Salisbury City squad who capitalised on their few chances whereas Weston were unlucky in front of goal.

The visitors started brightly and almost scored on six minutes when, from their first corner, taken by Dayle Grubb, Chas Hemmings rose to send a header crashing against the foot of a post.

Later, Kane Ingram and Hemmings tested goalkeeper Mark Scott with good efforts.

Slightly against the run of play, Salisbury took the lead when, from good work by Theo Lewis and Dan Fitchett on the right, Stuart Sinclair crossed for Chris McPhee to beat goalkeeper Lloyd Irish from eight yards.

A minute later, McPhee struck again when he charged down Irish’s attempted clearance from a back pass and beat the goalkeeper to the rebound to easily score.

Hemmings again went close for Weston on 50 minutes when he was put through the defence, but his attempted lob gave an easy save to Scott.

Salisbury put the game out of Weston’s reach on 65 minutes when McPhee and Elliott Fear set up Fitchett to beat Irish from close range.

However, Weston kept battling away with Naby Diallo and Hemmings testing Scott and Ingram and Grubb both going close.
