Weston-super-Mare and Worcester City must do it all again tonight (7.45pm) after an exciting FA Cup third qualifying round tie ended in a 1-1 draw.

Referee Chris Powell had a busy afternoon, issuing a red card to Worcester’s Charlie Reece for a dangerous challenge on Weston goalkeeper Lloyd Irish and a second yellow for Weston defender Jamie Laird. The official also booked six other players and awarded 34 free-kicks in total.

Worcester made a bright start, with Tom Thorley going close on two minutes and Danny Glover delivering a header on target.

However, Weston opened the scoring on 12 minutes when, from their first corner, Kane Ingram knocked in Ross Stearn’s flag kick.

Reece took the long walk on 17 minutes and Laird followed him three minutes before the break.

Early in the second half, Stearn cracked an effort off a Worcester post, while at the other end, Worcester’s Mike Symonds, with only Irish to beat, was denied by a superb tackle by Jamie Price.

In end-to-end play, Worcester’s Tyler Weir should have done better from substitute Greg Mills’ 65th-minute cross and, minutes later, Nabi Diallo was just off target from substitute Matt Villis’ burst into the visitors’ penalty area.

Worcester goalkeeper Matt Sergeant had to tip substitute Dayle Grubb’s effort over on 68 minutes and Irish had to do the same to deny Ellis Deeney.

The equaliser came on 72 minutes when Matt Breeze scored with a 25-yard effort.

In added time, Sergeant made the save of the game when he knocked Chas Hemmings’ point-blank effort on to his crossbar and over.
