A Martock-based domestic appliance retailer says advertising in the Western Gazette has a direct impact on their business.

Sparkworld Ltd has two large retail sites across the South West and distributes wholesale products across half of the country.

Despite that, it says advertising locally with eye-catching full page and double page slots is crucial to maintaining its market presence.

Liam Delaney, Store Manager at Sparkworld Ltd, says: “It makes sense to go big so that we’re seen by as many people as possible.

“If we stop advertising for a while, we notice that business gets quiet.

“It’s essential for us to advertise regularly.”

Founded in 1985 by Marian Crausaz and Ian James, the company has nearly 30 years’ advertising experience.

The company opts for double page spread advertising in the run-up to Christmas to promote its products during this major retail period.

The Western Gazette is the only advertising platform it uses all year round and only engages other media such as radio broadcast during the Christmas period.

Creativity and variety in its advertising is an important part of the strategy as Sparkworld Ltd presents a contemporary and innovative image.

Mr Delaney added: “Our ads are modern and up to date.

“Current and popular brands are always mentioned in our adverts.”

Western Gazette Media is holding an event in Yeovil to help local businesses promote themselves more effectively.

The Get Connected seminar will focus on ways for firms to reach new customers.

While print advertising remains a powerful and trusted form of communication, the session will cover a wide range of marketing channels – including the internet and social media.

It will draw on Western Gazette media’s expertise to explore the benefits of creative design and branding, marketing support, social media integration, website building and design as well as newspaper advertising.

The initial free Western Gazette Media Get Connected event will be held later this month.
