Dozens of firefighters spent the early hours of this morning tackling a huge fire that destroyed the Hungry Horse pub in Yeovil.

At least 16 fire engines and crews from Yeovil, Martock, Somerton, Sherborne, Chard, Castle Cary, Ilminster, Taunton, Street, Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea were called to the Bell Inn in Preston Road shortly after 4.20am this morning.

Fire broke out and ripped through the building, and It took crews four hours to extinguish the blaze. Nobody was injured.

The road was closed while emergency services fought the fire, and an investigation into the cause has been launched.
