The biggest rock band ever to come out of mid Somerset are to reform.

Reef - whose album Glow ranked at number 26 in Kerrang! magazine's "100 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die " list - are reforming for a short tour in spring 2010.

The original line up of Reef, Jack Bessant, Dom Greensmith, Kenwyn House and Gary Stringer will be playing six shows around the UK in April.

Gary from Butleigh, Jack from Cheddar and Kenwyn from Glastonbury all met at Strode College and met drummer Dom, originally from Ilfracombe, in London in 1993.

The band split up in 2004 on good terms.

Jack said: "Our old manager at the time we recorded Glow, Tank Gilks, got us all together over a curry in Tooting, and we all had such a good evening we decided we were ready to do it again.

"We are going to do a one week tour round the country, and see what the response is like - then perhaps do a few festivals in the summer if there's interest in us."

Since the band split up in 2004 Dom has been playing with the south west based indie band BlackSwan Effect, for whom Kenwyn occasionally sits in, while Gary and Jack are playing in rock four piece Them Is Me to rave reviews.

Gary and Jack have a new project as an acoustic duo, stringerbessant, and they have recorded seven news songs.

With the other two members of Them Is Me off on other duties early next year - Drummer Nathan Curran will be playing with Basement Jaxx in Australia - stringerbessant will go into the studio to record their first album

and hoping to play some small festivals in the summer of 2010.

I"its a much mellower acoustic vide - we'd love to play some of the smaller blissed-out festivals," said Jack.

Reef fans are being encouraged to sign up to the bands mailing list to get exclusive information on Reef show days and tickets 48 hours ahead of the national launch on Tuesday December 1 including an special VIP Reef ticket offer.
