The announcement that Brian Rose will stand down as director of cricket at the conclusion of the season has sparked glowing tributes to a 'Somerset legend' on Twitter.
The county announced yesterday evening that Rose will leave his position, which he has held for the past eight years, at the end of the summer.
Rose will continue to assist Somerset next summer, providing support in an as-yet-unspecific advisory role, but said a fresh approach was needed for the first team.
“After the result at the SWALEC Stadium and another defeat on Finals Day, I have come to the conclusion that a new and fresh approach is needed at first-team level,” said Rose.
“I will continue to try to assist the club in meeting its core objective of winning trophies."
Twitter users have paid tribute to the efforts of a man described as a true 'Somerset legend', who has also served the club as a player and captain.
