Police are appealing for information after two mean female thieves made off all with all day's takings from Shepton Mallet's Age UK charity shop.

The distraction burglary took place at around 4pm yesterday afternoon at the shop in Town Street.

While one of the women distracted staff in the shop, the other went into a back room and took the day's cash takings.

One of the suspects is described as a white female, in her late teens, 5ft 3in tall, with an average build.

She had long dark hair tied in a ponytail, and was wearing a camel coloured coat with a belt. She spoke with a foreign accent.

A police spokesman said staff at the charity shop were extremely upset by the incident.

Anyone with any information is urged to ring police as soon as possible on 101, quoting reference number 123512/12, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
