Temple on the planners' menu

Planners in Bradford on Avon have given the go-ahead for a Chinese restaurant to be turned into the town's first Buddhist temple.

The former Orient Express establishment in Bridge Street closed in 2012, and since then has been run as a meditation centre.

Now Wiltshire Council planners have approved an application to officially recognise it as a place of worship, and two Thai monks will be allowed to live there to run the temple, which is managed by the Ton Boon Trust.
