Taunton Titans lost a thrilling National Two South clash at Bournemouth 30-27 despite targeting it as “a winable game.”
They lost it in the first hour when Bournemouth built up a match-winning lead of 22 points.
But Titans rung the changes from the bench and hit back with tries by Aron Struminski, Greg Charlton and Gary Kingdom, who also kicked two conversions. But they had left themselves with too much to do, despite a rousing finish.
Taunton’s other points came from a try by Charlton and a penalty by Kingdom – all in the first half.
Dan Connelly, Ben Stewart and Ben Featherstone scored tries for Bournemouth with Connelly kicking three penalties and three conversions.
The only consolation for Taunton was that the three teams below them – Barking, Lydney and Southend – all lost and they picked up two bonus points.
