There is light at the end of the tunnel for injury-hit Taunton Titans.

The National Two South club had 13 players sidelined for last weekend’s game at Southend, but marketing manager Colin Bentley said: “At last we’re beginning to see some of our big players coming back.”

Sam Prior made his debut at No 8 at Southend following a shoulder operation. Greg Charlton (cracked eye socket) and Joel Conlon (shoulder injury) are also expected to be back in contention for a place in Saturday’s home game against Clifton.

Titans won 33-22 at Southend, and Bentley added: “It shows we have strength in depth. We have some quality players. We signed 18 new players during the summer and only kept 12 from last season. Obviously it takes time to gel and it is good if you don’t pick up too many injuries.

“I believe we have been playing champagne rugby in patches all season.”
