Frome Town have signed striker Matt Groves from Calor League Premier Division rivals Weymouth.
The former Dorchester Town player was assistant manager at the Terras but was sacked alongside boss Brendon King last week.
Town manager Brian O'Donnell was quick to pounce on the opportunity to bring the experienced front man to the AlderSmith Stadium.
Groves scored 151 goals in more than 450 appearances during two spells at Dorchester and was also part of the Conference South-winning Lewes squad in 2008.
Although he has not had much playing time recently due to his managerial commitments, O'Donnell believes he has plenty to bring to Frome.
"Matt will give us everything he has got and has plenty of experience of this level and the level above," said O'Donnell.
"We have been missing somebody who can hold the ball up and that's what we are hoping Matt will be able to do for us.
"We are still hoping to talk to three or four other players about coming in over the next few weeks as we are now going to have Matt Cooper missing for three games and Matt Cowler also missing, both due to suspension."
Frome have lost their last four league outings, the latest a 4-1 defeat at home to Chesham United on Saturday.
