THOUSANDS of homes in Shepton we left without power last night.
Just before 10pm 2400 houses were plummeted into darkness after losing connection with electricity supplied by Western Power Distribution.
After three minutes 1130 houses were reconnected by the company however the remaining homes did not have power restored until just after 10.30pm.
A spokeswoman from Western power Distribution said: “The main areas affected in the town were Norton Close and Berryman Close, we are sending someone out to locate the fault today, however appears to be an underground cable fault.
“Underground faults are often harder to find and may result in some excavation work be carried out.”
“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the loss of power.”
