SHEPTON Mallet’s newest choir has performed its first concert in the town.
The 25-strong choir sang a cappella songs (with no instrument accompaniment) in the Church of St Peter and St Paul last Thursday.
Musical director Guy Wilson said: “It was really great. We are a new choir and really finding our feet. It was our first proper concert and there were 78 people where which we are thrilled with.
“We managed to raise £260 for the Children’s Hospice South West.”
The choir performed a capella songs from around the world with a mix of Christmas carols and rounded off the concert with a sing-along.
The community choir meets on Thursdays at 7.30pm in the Peter Street Rooms, Peter Street.
Mr Wilson said: “We’re looking forward to performing at the Bristol Choir Convention in April. Anyone is welcome to join, especially men.”
