The parish of East and West Harptree, with Hinton Blewett is looking for someone to replace its current organist and choirmaster, David Nash, who will be retiring at the end of July after ten years of unstinting service.
Music plays a very important part in the life and worship of the three churches of East and West Harptree and Hinton Blewett, and the United Parish has an experienced mixed adult choir, which sings each week at the Sunday morning communion and once a month at evensong, as well as at weddings and funerals.
The parish is unusual for a rural parish in having had a strong choral tradition for more than 25 years.
This provides opportunities for a church musician who wishes to not only to play the organ but also to explore parts of the mainstream Anglican choral repertoire with a mixed choir.
East and West Harptree also have fine pipe organs at their churches of St Laurence and St Mary's, both of which have been restored in the past 20 years.
If anyone is interested in taking on this position when David retires they should initially contact Dr Andrew Day on 01761 221500.
