More than 30 schools and colleges in Somerset were forced to close today following this morning's flood chaos.

Some announced their closures first thing this morning after staff were unable to get to school, while others arranged for pupils to be collected early as road conditions worsened.

The majority of schools and colleges closed today are hoping to reopen as normal on Thursday, but are waiting to review the situation first thing tomorrow morning.

One school that looks unlikely to open is Cossington Primary School near Woolavington, Bridgwater.

The school building itself was flooded this morning, and engineers were called to assess the severity of the damage.

A final decision has yet to be made, but it is expected the buildings will remain closed for the rest of the week.

Schools will be posting closure or restricted opening notices on the websites below, tonight and tomorrow morning.
