The Rolling Stones are said to be close to making a decision on whether to make their first ever appearance at Glastonbury Festival, after reports that they were offered the main headlining slot in a £1million deal.

The Mirror yesterday claimed that a source close to the event said the Stones headlining at the festival “wasn’t an option previously but in the last seven days things have moved quickly.”

Festival founder Michael Eavis is in Scotland on a rare break from his farm, but he has tried for years to get the Stones to Glastonbury.
