Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters will perform in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey in August, it has ben announced.

Rock 'n' roll star Plant will appear at the annual Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza on Saturday, August 9.

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis, the man behind the extravaganza, said: "I'm delighted Robert Plant and his Sensational Space Shifters has chosen to perform at the abbey for our 18th year. We started in 1996 and only had one year off which was 2012.

"This night is a chance for those locally who can't always get to the festival in Pilton to enjoy something extra special in this wonderful town.

"I am sure he will appeal to all generations, as he is one of our all-time great rock 'n' roll performers and fans of all ages will remember the Led Zeppelin classics."

Janet Bell, abbey director, said: "We're delighted that the extravaganza is returning to the abbey in 2014. It is always a fantastic event and we are very excited that Robert Plant will be performing here this summer."

Bookings for the event can be made online at www.glastonburyabbey.com/Extravaganza.
