A Hollywood heartthrob lookalike will turn on the Quedam Shopping Centre’s Christmas lights in Yeovil this year.
Robert Pattinson impersonator Owayne Ovenstone, 21, will be the main attraction as crowds of thousands are expected to gather for the big turn on.
The Twilight deadringer will sparkle as the town centre glows to welcome the start of the festive period.
The proceedings will take place on Thursday, November 15 – the day before the latest film in the Twilight series hits the big screen.
Fans of the vampire series will be able to have their picture taken with Mr Ovenstone during the evening.
Mr Ovenstone, who studies psychology at university in Cardiff, said he was excited to be turning on the town’s lights.
He said: “I am really looking forward to it. I have never been to the area before so I can’t wait to have a good look around the town and see what it is like.
“There will be plenty of opportunity to meet people and have photographs taken which will be great fun.
“It was a real surprise and honour to be asked to be turn on the town’s Christmas lights. It is not something I ever expected to be asked to do.
“I was first told I looked like Robert Pattinson when I was 17. Now my family and friends are just used to it.
“It is now a daily occurrence for me to be approached by fans of the series thinking I am Robert or to say that I look like him.
“It was weird at first but the more it happens the more you get used to it.
“Thankfully everyone is always really supportive.”
The Western Gazette will also be at the Christmas light switch-on with its Twilight-decorated trailer.
Details about other attractions and stalls will be released in the coming weeks.
Last year a David Beckham and Fabio Capello lookalike turned on the town’s illuminations.
