Three men were stabbed and another injured during a fight in Weston-super-Mare, police said.

The incident occurred in the town centre between 3am and-3.20am yesterday morning. There was an argument between two groups in Club Vision on Richmond Street which resulted in two men receiving minor stab wounds. They were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

After the assault some of those involved then followed a man to the Smith Hotel on Knightstone Road and he too was stabbed. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said an investigation had been launched but nobody had yet been arrested.

He said: "This was a nasty incident between two groups of people, neither of which we believe to be from Weston-super-Mare.

"We think there has been some disagreement which has resulted in three people being injured and we are determined to find out who is responsible. Particularly at this time of year, residents and visitors alike are out enjoying Weston-super-Mare and it is not acceptable for their socialising to be spoilt by mindless individuals who resort to violence."
