A MAN who knew he faced going to jail jetted off to Turkey for a holiday - instead of going to court to find out his fate.

Daniel Greaves, of Lancaster Road, St Werburghs was due at Bristol Crown Court on December 13 to hear his fate after admitting cultivation of cannabis.

But instead the 45-year-old booked a holiday to Turkey. He was arrested at the airport on his return.

Rachel Garstang, prosecuting, said: “He was due to attend court on December 13 but decided to book a holiday abroad.”

She applied for Greaves to be remanded in custody because he had shown “blatant disregard” for the courts.

Greaves told the court he had chose to go on holiday because he was “fed up with everything.”

He was granted bail on condition that he lives and sleeps at his home address and attends court on Monday morning.

Why did they let him out on bail. He's given a court date and goes on holiday. What's wrong with the judges. No wonder criminals do the same again and again. There is no punishment or deterrent.
