Gary Johnson has conceded Yeovil Town will travel to Portsmouth with a squad he believes should be stronger, containing players whose time in green and white is limited.

The Glovers make their first ever competitive trip to Fratton Park on the back of a 3-0 Boxing Day drubbing at AFC Bournemouth.

The Huish Park manager will have spoken to players he wishes to ship out before kick off as he plans to shake-up the changing room during next month's transfer window.

Saturday's clash on the South Coast could potentially be some players' last outing in green and white hoops.

Johnson said: "I have got an 11 in mind that I think I can use. I have got to be honest, I could say everything's rosy because we have got one game left this year but that would be cheating our public as well because they might think I haven't seen what they have seen.

"We will get through it and we have got to show the ones that we do want to go on into the future with that we won't accept anything less than 100 per cent and the people that don't give that won't be here."

The boss added he wants to broker returns for former Bristol City and Norwich City loanees Joe Edwards and Korey Smith.

However, it is unlikely that any deals - temporary or permanent - could be sanctioned when the window officially reopens on New Year's Day with doubts surrounding staffing at Football League or FA headquarters on the Bank Holiday.

"I would love them both back because they give you that energy and quality but the chances of that happening for January 1 seem slim at the moment," said Johnson.

"You need a quick brain and a physical body and that's what we have got to bring in to sustain 90 minutes of top League One football twice a week."
