POLICE in Wincanton are urging residents not to fall victim to a spam letter circulating around the town.
Many members of the public have received the letter from China suggesting they may be a beneficiary of a multi-million pound bank account.
The letter is written from a man called Yang Lee Post, who claims to be a financial manager for a Hong Kong bank. He asks people to reply to him with their name and personal details.
PCSO Thelma Mead said: "This letter and its contents are clearly bogus and a scam.
"Anyone who receives it should throw it away immediately and certainly not reply or divulge any private information."
