POLICE have appealed to the local community for help and information after thieves swooped on a vehicle in Wincanton.
A large amount of diesel was stolen from a vehicle on Wincanton Business Park overnight between last Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Police have now called on the public to help them with their enquiries.
PCSO Mandy Forsey said: "This type of theft of diesel is so needless and has a huge affect on the owners.
"It has a knock-on effect for the owner as well as members of the public that may use the services of companies also affected by this sort of theft.
"This means that the extra cost may well be then passed on to the customers.
"This behaviour will not be tolerated and we are hoping for the assistance of the local community. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious at this time."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police at non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555111.
