Two police officers were taken to hospital following an incident in Yeovil last night.

The officers were called to Highfield Road at around 6pm yesterday evening following reports of a man in a car who would not leave an address, police said.

"As the police officers approached the car he was in, they received injuries," said Avon and Somerset Police in a statement.

"Both were taken to hospital where one was treated for minor burns to his arm and another for an injury to the eye."

A 53-year-old man has been arrested and remains in police custody.

Police want any witnesses, or anyone with information, to call them on 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
