Police investigating reports of an attempted fraud at a Wellington shop have released a CCTV image of a person they want to speak to.

Officers said a man entered the Buy and Save store in Fore Street at around 3.20pm on Monday, February 4.

"He wandered around the store and picked up two tins of paint and took them to the counter, where he asked for a refund," said an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman.

"When asked for the receipt he said he had called the store the previous week and was told that he could return the pots of paint without a receipt.

"The suspect then said that he would ask his father if he had the receipt and then left the store leaving the paint behind.

"We have released an image of a man who was in the shop that afternoon who might have useful information to help their enquiries."

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to call Taunton police on 101.
