Former Paulton resident and Radstock and District snooker and pool player Duncan Ashman has fully qualified over the summer as a World Snooker Coach and is opening in October a new Junior Snooker Academy in Westbury.

This is in conjunction with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) to encourage youngsters to try Snooker, have fun and 'grow the game'.

The Academy is for ages 10-16 and whilst there is no need to book, it is advisable to bring your own cue as limited cues are available to borrow.

The first two sessions are free and are between 3pm – 4.30pm on Sunday's 21st and 28th October 2012 at the Players Club, 26a Quartermaster Road, West Wilts Trading Estate, Westbury, Wiltshire BA13 4JT.

Duncan who also had to undergo a CRB check to qualify, completed the course under the guidance of 6 times World Champion Steve Davis and renowned coach and 1979 World Champion Terry Griffiths.

Duncan says 'it was an honour to meet and be coached by such legends of the game such as Steve and Terry, and look forward to passing on some of their knowledge in my own coaching programmes'.

He has also qualified on a separate course as an 8 Ball Pool coach under the governing bodies of the English Pool Association, World 8 ball Pool Federation and the University Pool Council.

Duncan has over 25 years experience within both games and played himself at county level. Individual lessons for both forms of the game are also available.
