The former girlfriend of a man allegedly beaten to death at her home gave police a tearful account of how her blood-stained bedroom resembled "something from a horror film" after the assault was over.

A tape of Heidi McGinty's emotional police interview was played for an hour and a half in front of jurors and a packed public gallery at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, March 6.

Her brother Lee, 25 and father Michael, 55 both deny the murder of Mr Retallick, 35 at Iris Way, Langport in September 2012.

Lee's head was bowed in the courtroom for much of his sister's video testimony as she described the way she jumped on his back during the attack, screaming for the barrage of blows to stop.

She later ran screaming into the streets, knocking on neighbours doors and pleading for help.

On Tuesday morning (March 5) Lee McGinty entered a guilty plea to manslaughter, but the prosecution did not accept it so the trial continues with him facing murder charges.
