Gary Johnson believes he could have npower League One's hottest property on current form after Andy Williams fired Yeovil Town eight points clear of the bottom four.

The striker netted his ninth goal in ten outings to sink Oldham Athletic after Zander Diamond converted one of the hosts' 14 corners to cancel out Gavin Williams' opener.

Victory took the Glovers to 15th, level on points with both the Latics and Preston North End.

Asked whether Andy Williams' purple patch made him the division's man of the moment, Johnson said: "Probably in the amount of goals he has scored recently, I would say so.

"There are some good strikers in League One and you saw some today. Certainly when he is getting a chance he is taking them and it was a great little ball from Jon Obika and he took it with aplomb.

"We knew that once he got on to it with a good touch it was in the net, such is his confidence. We are pleased for him, he is enjoying is football and long may it continue."

The visitors changed both personnel and formation from their midweek victory at MK Dons, switching from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2.

Obika replaced suspended Tottenham Hotspur colleague Dean Parrett to partner Andy Williams in attack, while Jonathan Franks started ahead of Lawson D'Ath.

Despite the added attacking impetus, Yeovil had to weather early defensive pressure with

Andy Williams blocking Diamond's drive from the second of two corners.

However, the visitors broke the deadlock on ten minutes through Gavin Williams. The Welshman profited from Dominic Blizzard's crunching tackle on Reece Brown to advance and drill home from 25 yards.

Scorer almost turned provider four minutes later as Gavin picked out namesake Andy with a diagonal pass only for the attacker to stab at Latics' keeper Alex Cisak.

On 15 minutes Paul Huntington climbed highest to meet Ed Upson's corner but was unable to guide the ball goalwards.

The captain was to prove Yeovil's hero at the other end after 19 minutes. Experienced frontman Shefki Kuqi muscled Richard Hinds off the ball but had his shot charged down by Huntington after bursting into the box.

As the Glovers continued to boss proceedings with an air of confidence while Oldham faltered, opportunities became scarce.

But the Latics wasted arguably the best chance of the first half on the stroke of the interval when James Tarkowski headed Filipe Morais' lofted deep free kick narrowly over.

A frantic start to the second period culminated in Oldham's equaliser as Diamond rose unmarked at a 55th-minute corner to head in.

The Glovers' response was immediate as seconds later Huntington headed on Upson's set piece, but the ball failed to drop for the stretching Andy Williams.

On 61 minutes not even Kuqi could understand how he had not notched his 16 goal of the season, scuffing his shot under little pressure from close range after Huntington had missed his clearance.

Five minutes later Andy Williams showed his counterpart exactly how it was done to send Yeovil ahead again. The former Bristol Rovers man ran on to Obika's deft pass, knocking the ball around Cisak and finishing from a tight angle.

Such brilliance was almost undone on 75 minutes when Luke Ayling anxiously cleared inches from his line as the ball got caught under his feet after Tom Adeyemi had burst through.

With seven minutes left Andy Williams found a promising position inside the box but Cisak rode his luck to dispossess him with an outstretched leg.

The 180 travelling fans had their hearts in their mouths on 87 minutes when Tarkowski was allowed to meet Morais' free kick unmarked at the front post, glancing agonisingly across goal.

But even with five added minutes at the end, Oldham were to end frustrated as Yeovil registered back to back away wins.
