Neighbours saved the life of a frail 93-year-old man who was found stuck in his bath – after more than a day.
Residents called police when they spotted the pensioner's curtains were drawn and post was sticking out of his letterbox at his home in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Police broke down his door and found the man sitting naked and cold in a drained bath where he had been stuck for more than 24 hours. They helped him out and wrapped him in blankets until he was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, where he remained yesterday under medical observation.
Police have praised his watchful neighbours who they say saved the man's life. PC Amy Hardman, who helped rescue the man from his home, said: "We're grateful that the neighbour was vigilant as I've no doubt we'd have been attending a death a few days down the line otherwise."
