Millfield swimmer James Guy has been nominated for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
Guy, who turned 18 last week, was the youngest male swimmer to compete for Great Britain in an individual event at a major championship meet for more than two decades.
After winning two golds, a silver and a bronze at March's British Gas International Meet in Leeds, Guy then picked up bronze medals in the 200m and 400m freestyle at the British Gas Swimming Championships in Sheffield in June.
He won 200m and 4x200m gold at the European Junior Championships in Poland before making his senior international debut at the World Championships in Barcelona.
And he made quite an impact, lowering his British age group record to finish fifth in the 400m freestyle before setting another age group record as he led off the 4x200m relay team which came home seventh.
Guy added three medals at the World Junior Championships in Dubai, with silver over 200m and 400m freestyle before anchoring the British quartet to 4x200m freestyle gold in a championship record time.
He also competed in recent World Cup events in Singapore and Tokyo.
The top three will be named on Blue Peter on December 12, three days before the awards night takes place in Leeds.
