A 46-year-old Midsomer Norton man has been killed in a road collision in Standerwick.

The man, who has not yet been named by police, was in a silver MG, when it collided with a telegraph pole at the Dilton Marsh junction of the B3099 in Standerwick, near Five Lords Farm at about 8.40pm on Sunday evening.

Wiltshire police, paramedics and the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attended.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed between the A36 junction near Mole Valley Farmers and the Dilton Marsh junction while a Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out an investigation.

The Avon Helicopter was also drafted in to conduct a search of the area but police have confirmed that only one vehicle was involved.

The road was re-opened in the early hours of Monday morning.
