Meat marketing firms pioneer new banner

Two companies have become the first to be able to market West Country beef and lamb under the Protected Geographical Indication banner. Jaspers and Dawn Meats passed the audit process to use the PGI to market products at home and for export. To bear the West Country mark, the meat must be at least 70 per cent forage fed and come from stock born, raised and finished in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Dorset or Wiltshire.
