Martyn Starnes column: Mood still positive as Yeovil Town search for results

Everybody remains positive despite the run of results and the team spirit is still good.

There is obviously disappointment for not picking up a result in the last six games but we played very well against Sheffield United and did well at Preston North End in the first half.

It is a question of getting that consistency over 90 minutes now and hopefully we will find the formula and are not far away from getting the results that we want.

We have still got some very good players in the squad. We have had a little bit of disruption to the team with injury and suspension but there are still very positive signs. I am sure the lads will work hard and work through it until we get some consistency in our performances and results.

Last week we welcomed Fulham defender Dan Burn into the squad. Gary Johnson has been aware of him for some time. He is a very tall, solid defender and I still have a crick in my neck from meeting him for the first time.

He is here for an initial 28 days and we will see where we go from there. Dan is here on a youth loan, and those sorts of deals are a good idea. It allows bigger clubs to get their young players out to Football League clubs to get a taste of competitive football, playing against some very experienced forwards.

It is beneficial for the player and for them to come out on that basis. Dan played for Darlington in npower League Two and any additional experience is without doubt to the advantage of both him and the club.

We have seen a situation with players we have signed where they have already had experience - Marek Stech and Asmir Begovic to name two - and you cannot just give them that experience, they have to earn it.

Last week a representative from npower came to Huish Park to formally present us with a cheque for £20,000 that our supporters won during the summer’s Fanpower Stadium initiative on social networks Twitter and Facebook.

We have purchased a new burger van and additional equipment for the snack bars allowing us to carry more stock and deliver products quickly to the fans.

We are trying to meet the requirements of the supporters and they indeed need to tell us if the new products such as fish and chips and jacket potatoes are items that they want. They can do that by either buying or not buying it, or by communicating with the club directly as to what they would like to see at the snack bars.

We are restricted in terms of facilities and what we can do but certainly at the home end the burger van has offered us more flexibility.
