Magnificent Madden stays South #2 - A fans view
Wednesday, January 02, 2013
After initially extending his loan spell from Carlisle until the New Year, striker Paddy Madden has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Glovers after being transferred from the Cumbrians for an undisclosed fee, with a sell-on clause included in the deal.
One website quotes "Madden's departure for an undisclosed fee – believed to be a five-figure sum – is set to be completed" - www.newsandstar.co.uk. This move is subject to Football League paperwork.
The Irish marksman enjoyed a purple patch since moving South after scoring nine goals in sixteen games. This rich rein of form saw him named as Match magazine's League One player of the month. On New Year's day he scored a brace to see Yeovil trumiph over Leyton Orient in Npower League One 3-0 and lift the Glovers to ninth - within three points of 5th spot.
However Manager Gary Johnson managed to get Paddy, even if he has to sell some players such as Keanu Marsh-Brown, he could prove to be a very important player in the Glovers bid to get a top ten/play-off push finish.
